CLF Services article submission

In Australia, the Department of Health has developed a COVID-19 Infection Control Training course. This 30-minute program provides a certification that health workers, and supplementary professions, have a thorough understanding of the Coronavirus, how it is transmitted, the symptoms that are likely to be present, and how to minimise the spread of the infection to you, your family, your clients or your patients.

It is also important that tradespeople who are working in other people’s homes or places of work also undertake the course to protect the safety of them and the environments that they are servicing. The essential services that tradespeople provide, such as electricians, become just as important, if not more important, than when we were not facing this crisis. With many people and children working and schooling from home, there is an increased load on the electricity supply and if wiring is faulty or old, this could become an issue. The instances of stocking up on large volumes of supplies, such as meat and frozen goods, is also often requiring the running of additional white goods to freeze and store those supplies. This additional electrical load can blow fuses and if circuit-breakers are faulty or inadequate, then this can be hazardous, often requiring an emergency electrician.

This situation that we find ourselves in is a very uncertain one. Without adequate training or knowledge on the Coronavirus and how it spreads, we are really navigating blind. It can be hard to know if the media reports are inflated or accurate, and keeping calm is more important than ever. Knowledge is power at this time, and the more we know about the disease and how to keep ourselves safe the better.

When you call an electrician to fix an issue in your home or business, they are in your environment and interacting with you. It is now more important than ever that we know and trust that the people who we are working with, those essential service people and tradespeople, know more than we do about the prevention of transmission and spread of this disease. It is incumbent on them to keep us safe, and on us to ask the questions.

If you are in need of an electrician or another tradesperson, check with them first to see if they have done the COVID-19 Infection Control Training course, and if they haven't, callCLF Services in Brisbane instead - to protect you and your family's health.
